I work tomorrow from 9-7 and do not foresee having any time to make any updates. X-mas eve? I am not sure I would live through the day if I took time out from our family gatherings to talk to the world through my blog. So this is my chance……
Happy Holidays to you all. I hope, no matter what faith or non-faith you choose to celebrate or not celebrate, that you have a great time with family and friends. Live it up. Cherish the times.

I was driving form Port Angeles to Bremerton in the great state of Washington and after becoming bored of the overplayed pop and rap songs on the few popular stations we have I went searching for something interesting. I happened to stop on a christian radio station on the AM dial and I was hooked. This was some incredible stuff….
The main discussion was about beauty and the fact that they believe all that is beautiful is beautiful because god as made it beautiful. Their main example was a comparison of a model in a magazine and a child with down syndrome. It was at this point that I became offended. They implied that without god you would find the child with down syndrome ugly. I do not believe this is the case. I know many atheists who find any life, even the child with down syndrome, to be very beautiful.
The definition of beauty that I got from dictionary.com seems to show that beauty is something that differs from person to person and is not static, based on what a supernatural being might decide is beautiful.
“The quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind.”
Now I understand that the definition of beauty will differ from person to person depending on their religion beliefs, family upbringing, and many other influences. This is why I cannot tell you what is beautiful and what is now. What I do not like is being told that what I find beautiful is not actually beautiful because some “supreme being” did not say it is.
I find my fiance to be the most beautiful person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We are both atheists. Does that mean that she is not actually beautiful? Of course not.

I got so wrapped up in spending time with the family that I did not get a chance to wish you all a happy thanksgiving. Well I hope everybody had a wonderful day and had a chance to spend it with the special people in your lives. Cherish those moments.

“When I realize there are some people who think that God does not exist, this is just unbelievable to me,” said Dr. Byron George, a local pastor.
I understand disagreeing. But to actually find the atheistic stance unbelievable? I find this very odd. What I find offensive is that many christians will overlook many of the teachings and values they hold so dear to criticize those with differing opinions. Its not loving. And its not winning any hearts for “god”.

Over the last few weeks, or maybe even months, we have heard about an increasing number of atheist billboards and bus ad’s around the world and reaction was to be expected. Many christians have looked at this atheist viewpoint as a direct assault on their beliefs. Every single time I watch a video from some christian saying they cannot believe how anybody would want to raise their children without god in their lives I am left in disbelief. Disbelief at the fact that many people are so close minded and would take a differing opinion as a direct assault on their own. Are they not strong enough in the religion they have chosen to continue on despite the fact that others do not feel the same? To me it shows weakness.
Its a weakness because I feel one should respect other differing beliefs. Spend some time getting to know your opposition. And most important of all…criticize the belief not the believer.
When I see a shortsighted slogan in front of a church I am angered by the belief itself, not the messenger.

Tear down the walls
Wake up the world
Ignorance is not bliss
So fed up with second best
Our time is here and now
I am the enemy
I am the antidote
Watch me closely
I will stand up – now
We will rise
Rise above
Stereotype Fools
Playing the game
Nothing unique
They all look the same
In this sea of mediocrity
I can be anything
Anything I want to be
We will rise
